Visit Avila Beach’s only kayak and SUP company at one of their three locations and prepare to have the time of your life!  Located right on the water in beautiful Port San Luis Harbor. Their office is located at the very end of Avila Beach Drive, right past the RV camping area and Fisherman’s Beach.  Launching kayaks and SUPs is a breeze from the protected dock.

The Port San Luis Harbor area of Avila Beach is typically sheltered from strong winds and swells, so it is perfect for beginners and families with children (ages 7+).  This area is rich with wildlife, including sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, dolphin, and many species of seabirds.  Whales are also commonly seen during their annual migration.

From the dock, you can discover the kelp beds, paddle to secluded Coast Guard beach (accessible only by boat), explore amazing tidepools, and walk up the public access staircase to the historic Point San Luis Lighthouse built in 1890.  Beginners are welcome and all rentals include PFDs, paddles, and free instruction.

MAIN BEACH IN AVILA (APRIL-OCTOBER)

From April to October, you can rent kayaks and SUPs right on the main beachin Avila. Follow Avila’s boardwalk down toward the playground and look for the rental tent right on the sand.  Look for banners and other signage!

The main beach is a family favorite with something for everyone!  Families with children especially enjoy the still waters of the lagoon and San Luis Creek.  San Luis Creek snakes along the Avila Beach Golf Course and is a birdwatcher’s paradise.  The creek flows year-round, and you can paddle over a mile inland!  You can also take kayaks and SUPs into ocean, and if conditions are good, pack a lunch and head to Pirate’s Cove!
