SLO Coast Kayaks’ Tours are professionally guided by trained staff members whose sole aim is to maximize your fun while on the water at the same time being safety conscious.. Due to the calm waters that the Port San Luis Harbor enjoys most times of the year, we are able to offer a safe, educational, and exciting adventure for the person who has no paddling experience whatsoever! If you have some experience, we have something for you, too!

All tours include kayaks, paddles, foot protection, wind protection, PFDs, wetsuits, water and snack, helmets and a photo CD of your tour experience. Tours also include ‘on the beach’ expert instruction that will teach you the basics of paddling and self-rescue, enabling you to experience a great adventure.

SLO Coast Kayaks also offers a class for the beginner or someone who just might want to become more familiar with the ocean and the practices of self rescue, paddle stroke, and basic sea kayak skills.

At SLO Coast Kayaks, we didn’t spare any expense on gear. Our kayaks are Perception Tribe’s 9.5 and 11.5, recreational sit on top ocean kayaks, paddles by Harmony, paddle jackets and wetsuits by Stohlquist, and Gath Helmets, the best helmet you can buy!

Port San Luis Adventure Tour
Explore and learn about the scenic Port San Luis Harbor in this fun tour. Mainly a flatwater paddle inside the harbor, you will launch from the Port San Luis Beach and travel along the coastline where you will be greeted by otters, sea lions, harbor seals and a multitude of bird life. You will also learn more about the Pillow Lava outcroppings that is so unique to this area of California and the native Chumash tribes and how they used this area. Also, learn more about the unique history of Avila Beach and what makes it such a desirable tourist destination.

Fossil Point Adventure Tour
Located at the far southern end of Avila Beach is Fossil Point. Begin your tour on the Port San Luis Beach where you will launch into the calm waters of the harbor. Travel south, past Avila Beach Pier and there you will be treated to the rocky outcroppings and unique sea caves of the Fossil Point area of Avila Beach. This particular tour has it all! View the abundant harbor seals and maybe even spot a sea otter or two.

Shell Beach Cave Adventure
Leave the pristine beaches of Shell Beach and move out past the surf zone to the lush kelp forests you will be greeted to a view like none other! The otters drifting along the coast along with the harbor seals playfully swimming near, you will be amazed at the diversity of different kayak environments that await you. Paddle secluded coves and explore the many sea caves that make up the Dinosaur Cave area, this is a tour you will not want to miss. Our knowledgeable guides offer marine ecology, geology along with cultural history along the way. All skill levels welcome!

RENTALS

SLO Coast Kayaks have, for rent the Perception Tribe 9.5 and 11.5 recreational sit on top ocean kayaks for rent at very reasonable rates. We are also pleased to introduce Liquid Shredder soft top 11 and 12 foot Stand Up Boards for Rentals, also.
